With a view to realign government of Canada's goal with labor market needs, department of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism has announced an action plan for faster immigration for the year 2009, which presently includes only 38 professions. Skilled workers from these professions will reach Canada between six to twelve months as against the present processing time of four to six years. Please note that this list is not final and professions will keep getting added/ subtracted on a regular basis. Immigration policies and conditions are constantly changing, and some of these changes may affect your eligibility to immigrate to Canada.

The major factors on which an individual is assessed in order to immigrate to Canada
